Alpha Phi Sorority holds “Heart Health Week”

Last week, the Delta Eta Chapter of Alpha Phi hosted their annual Heart Health Week at Adrian College, raising $296 for their philanthropy. The Alpha Phi Foundations’ efforts support women’s heart health, and Delta Eta’s heart health week hosted events to raise money and awareness for the cause.

During the week, the chapter hosted 2 campus wide events, one being their first annual Hoops for Heart— a 3v3 basketball tournament won by a team from Tau Kappa Epsilon. Teammates included Zach Perry, Nick Stephens and Tony Rios. The three each took home a gift card to Little Caesars and the champion title.

The annual Mr. Alpha Phi event, which is a male pageant, was a success for the chapter and always brings in a crowd from the Adrian College community. The talent portion of the pageant was a fan favorite, including contestants that sang, danced, played instruments and some comedians that brought a great laugh. The winner of the event, named Mr. Alpha Phi 2023, was Steven Posa. Posa is a junior at AC and spends his free time as a member of Alpha Tau Omega and an athlete on the track and field team.

Grace Phillips, Vice President of Health, Wellness and Accountability (HWA) for the Delta Eta chapter, was the sister in charge of the week’s events. “Girls in the HWA department have also been working hard to come up with other events with more news to come,” Phillips said. Although there are no specific dates for upcoming philanthropy events, the chapter is planning for their Red Dress Gala— scheduled to happen in late September or early November.

Reflecting on the week, Phillips said, “I feel amazing after completing heart health week! I think we had a great turnout to every single one of our events, and the girls really enjoyed the sisterhood activities that we had. I know myself and all of my sisters are very happy to have dedicated an entire week to women’s heart health!”
