Adrian College Ready to Rock Again

Legend has it you can still hear Russell Dickerson echoing throughout the Merillat Sports and Fitness Center on the Adrian College campus from last year. But on March 24, Mitchell Tenpenny, Nate Smith, and Michael Rotundo from After Midtown are ready to make their mark on one of the biggest days on the calendar at Adrian College. The spring concert is once again returning to Adrian College in what is already being anticipated by the student body. Previously, the student body has seen performers such as Uncle Kracker, Neon Trees and Owl City.  B.O.B, Hunter Hayes were scheduled for the 2020 concert before the pandemic. A highlight-level night that always brings out the excitement of students, coaches and faculty will be sure to do that again this year.

Tenpenny, Smith, and Rotundo are all big names around the country music scene. Tenpenny, headlining the night, has big hits such as The Way You Are and Drunk Me. Nate Smith has also recently gained fame in the country music scene, going viral in 2020 on TikTok for his song Wildfire, and in 2022 releasing popular songs such as Wreckage and I Found You

The excitement for the spring concert is through the roof, but it has been months of planning to get the event set. Anna Montgomery, who was in charge of the planning for the concert, says that she has been planning since the middle of October. “It takes a while to get the artists confirmed, and for us to get on their schedule, so starting early is crucial to get the bigger names on campus,” Montgomery said. Getting the bigger names on campus was what Montgomery was looking for, and she believes that “with the list we got, I definitely felt like these were the best options and the biggest names on the list, so I felt like we couldn’t pass up on the opportunity to have them there.” A big event like this doesn’t just happen on every campus, especially a smaller school such as Adrian College. A campus-wide event like this is the perfect way to bring the student body together. “It’s a unique thing that not many colleges our size has,” Montgomery added.

A concert right on campus, and better yet, it is free for all students to attend. Emails were sent out to all students to claim their free tickets, all with just having to put down their student ID. Freshmen will experience the excitement and thrill of the concert for the first time, sophomores and juniors can continue to make memories, and seniors can cherish the spring concert one last time. The event starts at 7:00 pm, but be sure to get there early as long lines are expected. Once again, the Adrian College campus is ready to rock for the spring concert.
