Throughout the pandemic, we have seen a growing love for small businesses and the stories behind them. Luckily, Adrian is full of small businesses that grab the attention of shopaholics and foodies. There are even tons of services that you can receive through them. After asking Adrian College students what some of their favorite small businesses are, here is a list of fun places to check out in your free time!
Bohmey Beauty
Bohmey Beauty is owned by Angeline Pratt and had its grand opening on March 21, 2020. At Bohmey you can find anything you need in regards to clean beauty and women’s lifestyle including gifts, makeup, skincare, etc. There is a location in Adrian and Ann Arbor, and you also have the opportunity to shop online!
The Buzz Cafe and Marketplace
The Buzz is a shop that houses coffee, food and confections. Their opening day was Small Business Saturday in 2020. The Buzz is located in downtown Adrian and the owners of the business, who can also be recognized as Adrian College alumni, stated, “join us… for Michigan roasted coffee, signature lattes, house-made soups, salads, and sandwiches and handmade artisan chocolates and confections.”
Fibers Hair Salon
Fibers is a hair salon located in downtown Adrian that opened in Nov. of 2020. Fibers states that their “mission is to bring the highest level of hair and lash care to our growing community, and to give an experience unlike anywhere else.” You can make an appointment online, or by calling the salon!
Ghidrah’s Mind Body Spirit
Ghidrah’s Mind Body Spirit is a women owned business that opened in 2014. You can shop online, or at their Adrian location, and they even offer yoga classes! Ghidrah’s stated that they “support the holistic wellness of body, mind and spiritual exploration with the purpose of the souls enrichment.”
New Appearance Auto Detailing
New Appearance is an auto detailing business located in Adrian that opened in 2019, just before the pandemic. Aaron, the owner of New Appearance said, “My purpose for opening my small business is for people to get the most out of their vehicles as possible, [as] it is a big expense. By taking care of your vehicle on a regular basis, it will not only look better but just like everything else you take care of, it will last longer.” You can schedule an appointment or get a quote by calling, texting, or emailing. ToxxLab
ToxxLab opened in Nov. of 2020 and is a health and wellness business, and they sell clothing and retail as well. You can schedule an appointment to sweat or shop online, or you can stop in for some retail therapy! Andi from ToxxLab stated, “[a] one hour sweat session clears out toxins, enhances quality of sleep, quality of life overall, peace of mind, relaxation, improves skin, fitness, etc.” Students can grab this experience at just $25.00 for one hour.
