The Women’s Basketball team hosted the Manchester Spartans in their first game of the season on Saturday. The squad came up victorious after a stagnant first half troubled by their early-game turnovers and the three-point shooting abilities of the Spartans.
Early in the game, the Bulldogs committed a few turnovers leading the Spartans to take advantage. Manchester was able to convert 20 Adrian turnovers into 21 points. At halftime, the Bulldogs only led by 8 points.
Leading 49-40 after the first three quarters of play, the Bulldogs were able to outscore the Spartans 28-11 in the fourth quarter. Adrian shot 50% from the field throughout the game while they held Manchester to 30%. Leading the scoring efforts for the Bulldogs was Senior Rachel Bucher with a game high 17 points, while Sophomore Kiara Wernette and Junior Taylor Besgrove each chipped in 12 points. Adrian’s bench players were also productive, outscoring Manchester 33-8.
Following this game, coach Kathy Morris has picked up her 301st win at the helm, recording the most victories for any coach in the program. Adrian also leads the all-time series with the Spartans 4-1.
The Bulldogs are back in action November 24th against cross-town rival Siena Heights.
